History of National Michigan Day

Admitted to the Union in 1837 as the 26th state, Michigan is a state located in the Great Lakes region of the United States. The name “Michigan” comes from the Ojibwe word “mishigami,” meaning “large water” or “large lake,” which is fitting because it’s well-known for its beautiful natural landscapes, including the Great Lakes, which provide a home to a variety of plants and Animals. The state is also home to many urban areas, such as Detroit, which is known for its rich History in the automobile industry. Today, Michigan is a diverse and vibrant state with a robust economy and a bustling arts and cultural scene.
